Screening in Chicago 2017!

Hello friends. It has been a long year with many ups and downs, and although we’ve been mostly silent throughout the year, the project has continued to progress. We want to thank all of you for your support, financially, spiritually and with your time investments. We are pleased to announce that we will be having a private screening of the entire film at the Chicago pipe show this coming May 2017!

The exact details are yet to be figured out, and it will most likely be a work-in-progress, but it's free and open to anyone (no tickets needed), so if you’re itching to see what we’ve been toiling over for the past five years, make plans to head to the show the first weekend in May, and come see us! Find out more about the show here:

To accompany this exciting news, we’re releasing a sneak preview trailer for a limited time that gives more scope to the direction of the film. We hope you enjoy seeing our progress thus far, and look forward to completing the film in the coming year. Blessings to you all, and Happy New Year!

Exciting news, friends of the flame!

We have been invited by the Chicago Pipe Show to share a preview of Father The Flame along with a Q&A after.
It has been an enlightening journey over the past five years since we began this project, and we're very excited to finally put some footage in front of an audience. This will also allow us to share a little bit of who we are, our story and our journey into why we chose to pursue the film. See schedule below.

Europe 2014 - From buried briar to masterpieces

We just returned from 16 straight days of filming through Europe. Starting in Denmark, we visited the greatest family legacy in pipes, the Ivarssons (Lars & Nanna). Their pipes are some of the most valued and sought after throughout the world, largely because of their father/grandfather, Sixten Ivarsson.

From there we went through Cologne, Germany to capture a world championship pipe-smoking contest, Saint Claude, France for an inspiring story of the birthplace of briar as a pipe medium, and finally, Italy to learn about the harvesting and cutting of Briar from Romeo Domenico (Mimmo). It was a crucial story element to the film and a greatly successful trip.

Stay tuned for more updates as we round out the filming and tackle the edit.

Greetings from San Diego

Last month we spent a couple of days filming at the beautiful San Diego home of pipe maker Jeff Gracik, maker of J. Alan Pipes. To say he was a great host would be a gross understatement. His work is terrific and we’re excited to share his story in the film. But seriously, if you ever make it to San Diego his skills on the espresso machine will beat any local coffee shop.
